Shirley and Me launched its new clothing lineat Native Sun clothing boutique on Atlantic Avenue with a portion
of proceeds benefiting Safespace Foundation Inc.
Delray Beach, FL
- Shirley and Me, a Delray
Beach-based fashion company, introduced its latest clothing line at Native Sun
boutique on November 15th from 7-9pm. The small boutique venue accommodated near 75
attendees. Guests enjoyed complimentary
hors d'oeuvres provided by TraMonti Italian Restaurant and champagne courtesy
of Tantra Restaurant and Lounge in Miami Beach.
A portion of the night's proceeds benefited the Safespace Foundation Inc.,
a non-profit organization committed to empowering victims of domestic violence and their children
through educational and social services.
The new Shirley and Me
line was presented in an intimate fashion show with models walking through the crowd. Models were provided by Boca Talent and Model
Agency Inc. and hair and makeup for the models was provided by Bond Street
Salon and MAC. In addition, two women
from the charity participated as models.
"I've been battered
all my life and I've never had anybody applaud me before," said Veronica, one
of the women from Safespace Foundation who participated as a model in the
fashion show.
"Because of the charity's commitment to empower these women
financially, mentally, physically, and emotionally to go back into society,"
said Marie Benson of Shirley and Me,
"we asked some of the women from the charity to participate as models for the
fashion show to help boost their confidence and strength."
The new Shirley and Me
collection includes hats, belts, and bags with the popular Shirley
iconography. The clothing line's debut featured
a "Mommy and Me" line introducing adult and children's tees and tanks. The shirts come in a variety of colors, in
fitted tee-shirt styles and tank top styles.
For its Winter 2007 collection, Shirley
and Me launched its hand tie-dyed long sleeve thermals, available in many
colors. Also showcased in the collection
are tee-shirts featuring a new image of Shirley wearing a Fedora hat.
The new line attracted a following as guests were purchasing
products from the new line throughout the evening.
The storefront entrance of Native Sun boutique (www.shopnativesun.com) gave the
appearance of a big screen movie premier with a red carpet, red velvet ropes, red
roses and 2 high directors chairs. The
directors chairs were for guests to receive complimentary champagne
mini-makeovers before entering the event.
Generous merchants along Atlantic Avenue donated 19 valuable
gifts for guests to win in the grab-and-pop surprise where guests grabbed a
champagne balloon and popped it to see if they were a lucky recipient from one
of the many gifts donated.
World-acclaimed artist Salvatore Principe was present to
congratulate and inscribe the 4 heart paintings, which he donated, for the
grand prize raffle winner. For more

The evening came to a close with a few words from Liz Baker,
