Cucina D’Angelo Presents The Remy Martin and P.S. Cigar Inc. Cigar-B-Que

Cigar-B-Que is a first of its kind event wherein Chef Angelo Morinelli, in conjunction with Remy Martin Fine Cognac and P. S. Cigars Inc., will pair the smoky flavors of Cognac, two fine cigars and Italian specialties from the grill.

Boca Raton, FL- On July 12th, starting at 6pm, Chef Angelo Morinelli will unveil his summertime series called Cigar-B-Que.  The event is so-sponsored by Remy Martin and P.S. Cigars Inc. and aims to bring together food, drink and smoke in a way never before envisioned.

“The goal is to bring together three strong passions,” says Chef Angelo.  “We had a difficult time at first trying to find the right ingredients that would pair with both cognac and the smoke from cigars, but after experimenting, we hit the jackpot.”

Chef Angelo has created a unique method for pairing the three flavors.  First, he says guests will arrive and be greeted with a Romeo y Julieta Robusta III cigar and a glass of Remy Martin Cognac.  “We started with a lighter flavored cigar and cognac.  We’ll let people smoke for about half an hour and then ask them to stub the cigars as the first course of dinner is served.  We’ll pair the first course with cognac- a bit of a surprise for people to pair dinner with cognac, but if you choose flavors wisely, the match is heavenly.”

Chef Angelo says that a cigar’s flavor gets heavier as it burns lower because the oils heat up closer to the mouth and concentrate more.  To take advantage of the change in flavor profile, once guests have finished their first course they will be prompted to re-light their cigars which have had the oil concentrated in them.  “The smoke mixed with the flavors left on their palettes from the food have a kind of marriage that brings new qualities to each,” says Chef Angelo.  “The cognac then adds a third dimension of flavor and texture that turns out almost caramel-y and sweet as the oils of the cigar and the food cut the alcohol in the mouth-feel- it’s pretty amazing.”

The dinner will feature three food courses each paired with Remy Martin Fine Cognacs and two cigars will be provided.  “The second cigar will be paired with our third course and linger into after-dinner.  It is a heavier cigar provided by P.S. Cigars called Jose Seijas Signature Series 2000,” says Chef Angelo.  “Everyone that comes to the event will also be entered into a raffle for a Leather Trinidad Humidor that will be given away after dinner.  The Remy Martin and P.S. Cigar Inc. Cigar-B-Que will really be an event to remember."
